We believe that Story is the shortest distance to the human heart. And for that reason we began the She Reads Book Club in September of 2009 in order to share the novels we love with the largest audience possible. Since then we have introduced dozens of novels to thousands of voracious readers.

Marybeth Whalen is co-founder of She Reads and the author THE THINGS WE WISH WERE TRUE, WHEN WE WERE WORTHY and five previous novels. Marybeth and her husband Curt have been married for 26 years and are the parents of six children. They live in North Carolina. Marybeth spends most of her time in the grocery store but occasionally escapes long enough to scribble some words. She is always at work on her next novel.

Ariel Lawhon is a critically acclaimed author of historical fiction. She is the author of THE WIFE, THE MAID, AND THE MISTRESS (2014) FLIGHT OF DREAMS (2016) and I WAS ANASTASIA (2018). Her books have been translated into numerous languages and have been Library Reads, One Book One County, and Book of the Month Club selections. She lives in the rolling hills outside Nashville, Tennessee, with her husband, four sons, black Lab, and a deranged cat. Both pets are, thankfully, girls.
