Hi Ladies!

First I want to say that we were all sad to see Laura Polk move on to other things. She did such a wonderful job leading discussions here and she will be greatly missed.

But I'm also really excited to take the helm for a while and get to know each of you. Apart from reading books I can't think of anything more fun than talking about them with other readers!

My role at She Reads has kept me out of the loop on this online discussion so I thought you might want to know a bit more about me. I helped start She Reads three years ago with Marybeth Whalen and have been active in running it ever since. Mostly I manage and edit the blog, along with helping choose each month's selections. On the personal side of things, I live in Texas with my husband and four young sons. I write. I read a lot. I run on a regular basis (unless my knees are out of whack) and I used to be something of a mountain climber (long story involving my wild teen years, my reckless older brother, and his cute friends). I'm tall. I have freckles (aren't those supposed to be gone by the time you're 35?) and crows feet (aren't those suppose to show up much later in life?). These days I spend most of my time trying to civilize my sons to the point where they don't pee in the front yard or the laundry basket. Fun times ya'll.

Hopefully you'll read that and know that we'll have a lot of fun here. Or it might scare you off! Either way let's get this party started.

(Reminder: every time you comment on this discussion throughout the month you'll be entered to win a beach bag filled with signed copies of all nine of Claire Cook's novels, including Wallflower in Bloom. Post often and good luck!)

The reading schedule for this month.

Week One:

Chapters 1 – 10 (Don't worry, they're short chapers)

Week Two:

Chapters 11 -20

Week Three:

Chapters 21 – 30

Week Four:

Chapters 31 – 38

I will post the first set of discussion questions this weekend. And don't forget that Claire Cook will be joining us all month as we chat about Wallflower in Bloom. If you've ever wanted to meet her or pick her brain, now's your chance! And if you have a friend who would like to join us, feel free to invite her (or him). The more the merrier!

Warmly,

Ariel

It's nice to meet you Ariel!

I live in Ohio, but long to live down south or out west (sigh). I've been married 34 years. I've known my husband since Kindergarten, but we didn't really pay much attention to each other until we met at a Bible study when we were 21!  We have two adult, married children and two grandsons, ages 8 and 3.

I love to lead/teach Bible studies and help women grow closer to Jesus.  I enjoy reading, watching my collection of comedy/romance movies, walking and riding my bicycle.

I don't know what crow's feet are, so I'm gonna go look that up now.  :)

Hi Ariel,  Welcome!!  Yes we will miss Laura but wish her well as she moves on to other things. Cry

I live in Nothwestern Wisconsin and have been a member of She Reads since last September.  I have been a part of this discussion group every month since then.  I really have enjoyed all the books that you have chosen for us to read.  Some more than others, of course. Smile

I am waiting for this book from the library, which hopefully will be in any day now.  So I might have to play catch up when I get it, but am looking forward to reading it.

I loved your comment about trying to civilize your sons…been there, done that.  Wink

Good Friday morning ladies (and perhaps a few guys)…Wallflower arrived yesterday via Amazon so I'm all ready to let the weekend "bloom". This will be my first online club discussion so I'm excited with the potential ease of participating. I've always had intentions of joining other clubs but that would mean I'd have to work it into a time slot. Just the thought of sharing conversation in my pj's, hair a mess, teeth not brushed, is delightful.

Now to start reading……

Welcome shecran!  I'm picking up my book at the library this morning.  I love this book club!  Being able to jump in whenever in your pj's like you said.  Hearing other people's imput on the books and if life gets too hectic I can just follow everyone's comments and not have to post.  I'm looking forward to getting into this book with everyone.  Smile
