We don’t get to do this often. No, let me rephrase that. We’ve never gotten to do this. All of the She Reads girls in the same place, at the same time, talking books and meeting readers and laughing so loud we woke the innkeeper (literally).
This last weekend the three of us joined hundreds of readers and dozens of writers at the annual Pulpwood Queens Girlfriend Weekend in Jefferson, Texas. We caught up with old friends and made new ones. We hung out with some of our favorite authors:

Ariel Lawhon, Michael Morris, Marybeth Whalen, and Kimberly Brock chatting it up during a break in the festivities.
There were costumes. Hats. Book Signings. Panels. More costumes:
Thanks for being patient with us while we were gone. We will return to our regularly scheduled programming tomorrow. Until then dear ones, let us know if you’d like to join us next year for the Pulpwood Queens Girlfriend Weekend. And thank you Kathy Patrick for putting on an event worth talking about!

How fun! I’ll make it there one of these days!
Looks like you all had a blast!
Well Ariel, I have been following SHE READS for months and did not get the connection until reading this one!!! I love SHE READS and send it out to my BOOK TALK group frequently. You are most likely why I read Michael Morris’ Man in the Blue Moon. Thank you, thank you and next year I will be sure to thank you in person!
Billie Brinkley…head Queen of Baytown
This is the next best thing to being there. The pictures are a treat.
OHMYGOSH!! Didn’t I tell you I was in the witness protection program and not to post any photos of me???? You have blown my cover. I’m off for a dye job, lipo, and plastic surgery on the nose before the Westboro folks find me again.
Looks like a wonderful time was had by all! This festival looks like a dream come true. And you most definitely rocked that Atonement dress, Kimberly!
Fear not, Karen. I know of a wee little dog that specializes in nose surgery.
Billie, I wish I’d known! My father-in-law grew up in Baytown and I’ve still got family there.
Allison, Kerry, & Kathy: y’all join us next year and it will be a party indeed!
Oh Karen, regardless of hair color etc… we will know you anywhere. After (finally) meeting the She Reads gals in person all I can say is they truly are dear to my heart. Until next year…
Oh how wonderful!! Looks like ya’ll had a fabulous time and Jefferson, Texas is one of my absolute favorite places in the Lone Star state. Please let me know about next year’s weekend!!
Aside from my insane jealousy (especially of those pics with Charles Martin), I LOVE IT.
Truly. I’m so glad you had a wonderful time. It shows in every photo!
