Rich In Books

18 Comments 16 October 2012

Just a quick peek at my current review pile. If we added Marybeth’s to this, I’m certain it would double or triple the amount here (she consistently reads more than I do–no small task). The rundown:

The Bone Bed by Patricia Cornwell

The Lost Art of Mixing by Erica Bauermeister

Calling Me Home by Julie Kibler (can NOT wait to read this one!)

The Trial of Fallen Angels by James Kimmell, Jr. (I’m in the middle of this one and it’s amazing)

Blackberry Winter by Sarah Jio (this month’s book club pick–it’s wonderful, but you already knew that)

The Truth About Love and Lightning by Susan McBride

Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker by Jennifer Chaverini

The Last Runaway by Tracy Chevalier

My One Square Inch of Alaska by Sharon Short

Above All Things by Tanis Rideout (SO eager to dive into this one)

Man In the Blue Moon by Michael Morris (we have a LOT more to say about this charming novel)

What about you? What’s on your nightstand/coffee table/e-reader at the moment? Any upcoming books that you’re dying to get your hands on?

  1. I have far too many books stacked up on my bookshelf in the to read/review pile. Oh, the horror. :) To some crazy people, that may be a problem, but to me, it’s heaven.

  2. Ariel says:

Too many books a problem? Never! So glad to see I’m not the only one overdosing on books.

  3. Susan S says:

My husband just made a comment a couple of nights ago about how many books I have on the shelf that I haven’t read. The Orchardist by Amanda Coplin; Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand; French Kids Eat Everything by Karen Le Billion; If Mashed Potatoes Could Dancy by Paige Shelton; Stand by Me by Neta Jackson; and many, many, MANY more. The scary part is I have a huge list of books I want to read that aren’t on my shelves yet!!

  4. Sherri C says:

If you don’t count the stacks of “used” books picked up at book sales, the current newer ones, resting bedside are:
    Lady of the Rivers
    Kingmakers Daughter
    The Devils Queen
    The Guest Book
Wolf Hall (been sleeping a LONG time, eventually I’m going to wake it up!)
And now I have added several more “to read” to my never ending list…”see all of the above!”

  5. I’ve had Gone Girl sitting on my shelf for a month. Other books keep sneaking ahead in line but I’m really excited to read it!

  6. Constance says:

Let’s see, I have floor to ceiling books in my family room, one wall of books in my small sitting room book shelves in almost every bedroom., books in my night table, books on my night table. Books on my computer and iPhone. Books on tape in my car….! Never enough time for books. Now that I have discovered She Reads I have so many more I want to read. :-)

  7. Constance says:

I forgot to mention that I have library cards for 3 libraries!

  8. Heather says:

I love this post! You definitely have some intriguing titles. It is so weird, but I am almost certain that I have read The Trial of Fallen Angels, but under a different name. I need to investigate that. Anyway, here are some of the titles on my to-read list: The Round House (Erdrich); What Happened to Sophie Wilder (Beha); Glaciers (Smith); The Grief of Others (Cohen); The House at Tyneford (Solomons); and Sweet Tooth (McEwan). I read mostly on my Kindle so I don’t have the paper stacks all over the house, but sometimes there’s something nice about that too…

  9. Laura Kay says:

Here is my list of books to review (this doesn’t include the piles of books I’ve won or bought that I can’t wait to read too :D

    The Headmaster’s Wager
    Man in the Blue Moon
    All the Truth
    Hemingway’s Girl
    Happily Ever Madder
    Auraria
    The Midwife of Hope River
    Evenfall
    Viewer Discretion Advised
    The Wild Princess
New Kids on the Block the authorized biography (no judgement!ha!)

  10. Teresa says:

Those are some great books. I’ve got quite a few on my shelf that are waiting to be read.

  11. Alison Law says:

In honor of Halloween, I’ve pledged to make my way through The Ghost of Black Mountain by Ann Hite, Auraria by Tim Westover and American Ghost by Janis Owens in October.

  12. Ariel says:

I’ve always been a fan of Halloween: it’s my mother’s birthday. But sadly, looking at my stack, I don’t really have any scary books on the list. Except for The Bone Bed, perhaps. But I’ve not started it yet so I don’t know.

But it does beg the question of how many of you can read scary books? I can’t for the most part. My imagination is WAY too overactive and I don’t think I’d ever sleep again.

  13. Ariel says:

We would never judge you! Also, Team Joey. Ahem. :-)

  14. Ariel says:

I might be the last person on earth who hasn’t read GONE GIRL. If only there were more hours in the day…

  15. Ariel says:

Constance, I think we need to be friends!

  16. Anita says:

I’ve got 3 newer books to finish this month:

THE MERMAID COLLECTOR by Erika Marks

MAN IN THE BLUE MOON by Michael Morris

HOW TO EAT A CUPCAKE by Meg Donohue

Then it’s on to reading from my own shelves, older books I’ve bought or won etc, and there are oh so many!!!

  17. Vicky says:

The book sounds incredible! I can’t wait to read it.

  18. Josey Bozzo says:

Oh, goodness! I didn’t realize Erica Baurermeister had a new book comine out!!!!
    I absolutely LOVE her books.
