Welcome, lovely friends, on this first day of March. If you’re stopping by after reading Nicole Seitz‘s devotion for Proverbs 31 Ministries, we’re so glad you’re here. And if you’re one of our regular readers, consider this a virtual hug. Nice to have you back!

Our featured book club selection for March is a true beauty, as the title suggests. The Inheritance of Beauty by Nicole Seitz is sure to become one of your favorites.

Beauty, like truth, is enduring. But only one can set you free.

Maggie Black came of age in the lush, fragrant lowcountry of South Carolina-spending her days with her beloved brother and the boy she would grow up to marry. But when a stranger arrived one summer, Maggie couldn’t imagine the evil he would bring with him. And though she escaped with her life, the ramifications of that fateful summer would alter all of their lives forever.

Now, some eighty years later, Maggie and her husband George are spending their remaining days in a nursing home, helpless as age slowly robs Maggie of her ability to communicate. When a mysterious package arrives, followed closely by a stranger whose identity haunts them, Maggie and George are hemmed in by a history they’d rather forget.

As the truth reveals itself, George knows he must face the past and its lifetime of repercussions. It’s the only way to free himself and his precious wife-if it’s not too late.

THE INHERITANCE OF BEAUTY is a rich and enchanting story about age and beauty, about the blessings and curses of each, and how true beauty endures for a lifetime.

You can read the first chapter here.

Nicole Seitz

Nicole Seitz is a South Carolina Lowcountry native and the author of five critically acclaimed novels. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Journalism, she also has a bachelor’s degree in illustration from Savannah College of Art & Design. One of the things we’re most excited about this month is our giveaway. An acclaimed artist, Nicole not only paints the covers for each of her novels, but she volunteered to create an original painting for this month’s grand prize winner. As you can see, it is lovely (details for entering the giveaway below):

One lucky winner will receive this original painting by Nicole Seitz

The grand prize winner will receive this painting and a copy of The Inheritance of Beauty. Two additional winners will each receive a copy of the novel. The rules for entry are simple: either leave a comment on this post or sign up for our free monthly e-newsletter. Winners will be chosen randomly on the 15th of March.

For those of you who don’t have a local book club, do consider joining our online book club. We’ll be discussing The Inheritance of Beauty for the entire month of March. There will be an additional prize given to one of the participants in our online book club. So hop on over and join the discussion!

I joined this book club last month and really enjoyed the book, unfortunately life got in the way and I didn’t get to participate in the book club as much as I wanted. This book looks very good and I too have a mother with dementia and am truly understanding how important it is to document either through word, photos, stories, paintings – whatever medium – our history, our family history. I look forward to reading this new book and participating more in the book club! :)

  2. Danielle Hopper says:

Ive never been one for fiction. More of a self-improvement, devotion, christian/family growth, etc reader. I have been wanting to find something to read just for enjoyment, but I’ve never really known where to start to even find one. As much as I enjoy my P31 devotion I get every day, I figure if anybody can suggest a great book it would have to be you! So, this will be one of the very few fictional books I’ve read and to be honest, I’m really looking forward to it. Thanks!

  3. Cathie says:

  5. Becky says:

I love to read fiction and I can get stuck in a rut. I read a book, love the author, and then read all of their books….then I am not sure where to go next :) I love receiving new ideas. Thanks for sharing. Excited to read this book :)

  6. Cynthia says:

I can’t wait to read the whole thing. You do such a great job of making your novels seen as though we are right there. Thank you so much.
